"SHOP!" card

I hope to create some NEW things over this long Labor Day weekend. However, it's going to be a busy weekend, so we'll see how that goes! Until I get a chance to create something new, here's another card I made a while back.

I've mentioned before how we have year long "sisters" on the Cricut message board. My sister participated in a Cricut Crop at a LSS, and I decided to send one of her monthly gifts in the form of a gift certificate for that scrapbooking store. I couldn't have done it without the cooperation of the woman who was organizing the event. I sent her this card plus a check for a gift certificate, and she took care of the rest. I told my sister that she was to spend it on some items that she normally wouldn't buy. It was so be an indulgent purchase! She was very surprised, and she purchased some fun items!

This is an 8.5" x 5.5" card. The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus, and the chipboard letters are Heidi Swapp. I added some rhinestones to the centers of some of the flowers. I typed up "Surprise Sharon!" three times in Word Art, and I formed it in a circle. I used my Coluzzle to crop the circle and a shadow circle, and I put a Prima in the center. The rick rack ribbon is Sticky Stitches that I've had for a long time! I like the look of this card! It's very soft, and a little different from what I normally create, but I like it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another wonderful gift from another wonderful friend!

Some of us on the Cricut message board have year long "secret sisters" that we send monthly gifts to, and then we have another "secret sister" that sends us monthly gifts. It's really fun . . . both the giving and the receiving. Most of us haven't remained secret, so we now refer to ourselves as NSSS - "not so secret sisters". Anyway, Sharon is the NSSS that I send to. I really enjoy sending her fun stuff every month!

She asked me a few days ago if I had the August/September 2007 issue of Paper Crafts magazine, because she had an extra copy, and if I didn't have it, she would send the extra copy to me. Well, I didn't have it, and I love that magazine, so I was happy to take it off her hands! In the meantime, she had also read a post that I made about a trip that I made to Joann's during a recent 40% off sale when I was unable to find the "You" large Cuttlebug embossing folder. I went to Joann's particularly for this embossing folder, but it was sold out. So, not only did Sharon send me the magazine, she also went out and purchased that embossing folder for me! Talk about TOTALLY making my day. How thoughtful! I'm her NSSS . . . she's NOT supposed to send me gifts! I was just overwhelmed (and I still am). She also made me a gorgeous card. What a super sweet lady! Thanks again Sharon! You are VERY sweet and thoughtful, and I am very appreciative!

You Captured My Heart

I still don't have time to craft. I'm on Mission Cleanup & Reorganization Detail! This is another card that I made a while ago. Once again, it's a card that I made for my husband. What can I say, I'm just crazy about him!

This is a horrible photo! I have no idea what the green slashes are that are cutting through the image! Anyway, this is a scraplift from a card I saw in Paper Crafts magazine. I don't scraplift often, but I couldn't resist this idea with the Cosmo Cricket Wanted papers. The words are just various fonts printed from my computer, and I added some small rope fiber around the heart. Easy, but I just love that rope around the heart!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wild Thing . . . You Make My Heart Sing!

I haven't had an opportunity to create anything lately, because I'm on clean up and reorganization detail, but I thought I would post something that I made a while ago.

I made this card for my husband. I found the "Wild Thing" in my bin of K&Company tags, titles, etc. As soon as I came across it, I thought of "Wild Thing . . . You Make My Heart Sing!" I thought it would be perfect for my husband. The background paper and the heart are from Cosmo Cricket Wanted papers. The words are just various fonts printed off my computer. The music notes are a stamp. The photo corners are QuicKutz. I love all the colors! My husband liked it too!

Thanks for stopping by! You know where I'll be today . . . in the basement!

Basement clean up continues . . . . .

I am so tired from walking up and down the basement stairs! Cleaning up wet clutter after getting over 6 inches of water in the basement is exhausting! My legs ache and my feet hurt. I have a busy week ahead of me!! Geez, I miss sitting in my crafting area!

I realized one thing for sure when we were without electricity for over 12 hours. I wouldn't have done well as a pioneer woman. I am spoiled rotten! I like my comforts, and I take them very much for granted. I do appreciate them though! Very much! I like lights, the refrigerator, air conditioning, and most importantly, a working sump pump! How did those pioneer woman do it? I'm totally impressed, and I admire their resilience!

Well, enough rambling from me. I still have lots of work to do!

Message Board friends are so wonderful!

I am a member of the Cricut message board. I just love it on that board. Everyone is so nice! Well, a while back, I posted a Halloween card with a cat on it, and a member of the board, Emily, commented on it. She said that she thought it was adorable, and she wished she would get a card like that in the mail. I thought that was a very sweet comment, and I told her to send me her address, and I would mail her the card. I was going to send it to her in October, for Halloween, but I didn't want to forget, so I sent it to her right away. I thought maybe it would inspire her to create some Halloween cards! Anyway, I sent it to her, just as a RAK. She obviously really appreciated it, because she sent me a thank you gift.

This is way above and beyond a thank you gift! WOW! This was TOTALLY unnecessary, but VERY much appreciated. I'm overwhelmed at how thoughtful this is! Thank you so much Emily! She sent me a gorgeous card! I love the black and cream. It's very elegant, and I LOVE the black rick rack ribbon! Then, she sent me a couple of gifts from her LSS. Look at the cute bag that it was it! I love it. She sent Crystal Stickles, jumbo Making Memories brads, and absolutely gorgeous Primas! I don't have any of these things already! I'm so thankful for the wonderful people that I "meet" via the message boards. What a sweet lady! Thank you Emily!

You know what else is amazing? I got this package yesterday when I was in the middle of cleaning up in our basement! What a way to brighten my day!

Flooded basement!

So, the girls got home from school yesterday by 3 p.m., and shortly after that a VERY scary storm rolled through. If I was ever going to witness a tornado in my lifetime, I thought for sure that was it. However, no tornado, but the thunderstorms that followed were pretty violent. Our electricity went out immediately, and when it's that violent outside, you pretty much know that it won't be restored quickly. My husband and I started to hand bail the sump pump pit in the basement, because we don't have a generator or a battery back up for the sump pump, and it runs on electricity. After a while, we knew we were fighting a losing battle, but we kept trying up until the end. The basement just started seeping with water along all of the walls. That was it. We should have been moving items up to the main level the whole time, and when the seeping starts, there really isn't time to do too much.

The electricity was restored around 4:30 a.m. this morning, and once the sump pump had time to do its thing, the water level fell fast. However, today is MASSIVE clean up -- big time! We had at least 6 inches of water in the basement. If it was in a cardboard box, and it was on the floor, it will be in the garage can today. A lot of things were on tables, etc., but a lot is going out to the trash can.

Something like this really puts things in perspective. It's all just STUFF! We're fine! Who cares about the stuff? OK, I can take this attitude ONLY because I don't have scrapbooking stuff in the basement. If I did, I would be crying my head off.

I took a few minutes to relax and post this, but now it's back down to the basement for me. School was canceled today, so there are four of us working down there. It's not even 11 a.m., and I'm exhausted! Oh well!

Gatefold Diva Card - Stampingranny Challenge

As I was looking at some of my favorite blogs, I saw challenge gatefold cards on Flossie's and Patsy J's sites, so I decided to join in on the fun.

Stampingranny has a fun blog candy challenge to create a gatefold card. Well, this is my first one ever! I've never created a gatefold before. It was fun!

This is another card that I made using just scraps on my desk. I used Provo Craft Slab patterned papers. I cut the scallop square and scallop square shadow using Mini Monograms on the Cricut. I added black Stickles to the scallops and the center of the Prima. This was so easy, and I love the result!

Thanks for stopping by!

Diva Card - Girly, Flirty, and Fun!

I made this card from scraps that I had sitting on my desk. I'm really happy with the way it turned out! I used dotted and girly paper that I had left over from when I made a "Diva" Bind It All journal a short time ago. This paper is so pretty, that I just had to make a card with it! I love the color combination!

The paper is Provo Craft. I cut the circle scallop and circle scallop shadow at 2" using Mini Monograms on my Cricut. I then used my Coluzzle circle template to cut two designs from the girly paper. The top design is a shoe box and a shoe, and the box says "the perfect pair", and the bottom design is a pretty perfume bottle. I added Stickles to both designs. The Primas were attached with a brad, and I added some Stickles to the brad. The sheer dotted black ribbon finishes this card off, and I think it's so girly, flirty, and fun!
