Super Tagged!

My very talented friend in blogging world, Samm, has tagged me a few times! I've done most of these already, but I don't want to ignore a "tag"!! If you've never stopped by Samm's blog, visit there today . . . you'll be hooked! She's so talented!!

First off, Samm told me that I make her smile! Thanks Samm, you make me smile too!

Next, I need to answer these:

1. If you could have $100 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments,which would you choose? I would take the paper! In fact, I would probably take Basic Grey or Cosmo Cricket papers! Love them! (You don't see me post a lot using either, because I HOARD these papers! I have a tough time actually using them let alone cutting them!)

2. If you had to choose between using only stamps or rubons which would you choose? No contest here -- STAMPS! Love them, am addicted to them, can't have enough of them . . . I think you get the point!

3. If you knew how to do both awesome cards and layouts, but could only do one for a year which would you do? I really need to get back to my scrapbooking, so I would do layouts for a year!

4. Would you rather own a scrapbooking store or have your own scrapping room at home? I'll take the store. I'm sure I would NOT make a profit, but as long as I'm breaking even, I'll take the store! I can hang out, make new scrapbooking friends, my girls could hang out! It would be a scrapfest all the time!

5. What is your current cardmaking or scrapping style? I don't really know! I would guess electic? I like a little bit of everything! I love Primas and Stickles a lot at the moment!

Last but not least, Samm tagged me for the 7 random/weird facts about me. I mentioned in a post a while back that I wasn't doing this one, because I had already done it twice, and I seriously don't think people want to know this much about me! However, here I go again!

1. I love Raggedy Ann. I've loved her for as long as I can remember!! I got a Raggedy Ann doll after I got my tonsils out at the age of 4, and I still have her. She's fabulous! I'll have to post of picture of her someday! True to her name, she's pretty ragged!!

2. A couple of my favorite books when I was younger are: Charlotte's Web, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and Are You There God, It's Me Margaret.

3. I had a Skipper doll when I was younger, and when you would twist one of her arms completely around, she would get slightly taller, and her bust would grow just a little. I kid you not! I wish I still had her, because my girls would be amazed!

4. I'm 5' 7 1/2" tall, but if someone asks me how tall I am, I just say 5' 8", because it just seems easier! Isn't that crazy?

5. I am the 3rd of 3 children. My sister is 4 1/2" years older than me, and my brother is almost exactly 2 years older than me! When I was growing up, it was always my sister and I or my brother and I. I was never the odd man out. Isn't that interesting? I wonder why? My sister and brother never teamed up against me. Must be a youngest child thing?

6. I never knew I would enjoy blogging as much as I am. It's seriously fun!

7. I'm currently low-carb dieting. I seriously need to lose about 50 lbs. I wish it wasn't so much, but sadly, it's true. It's tough to diet with two girls in the house. I have to watch what I say about it! I don't ever want to give the wrong impression about body size!

Cards for Soldiers, Part 2

Cards for Soldiers

My youngest daughter is in 5th grade, and the Student Council of her school organized "Operation Care Package", a supplies for soldiers drive in honor of Veteran's Day. The are collecting personal, clothing, entertainment, food, and miscellaneous items for the soldiers. We gathered up some personal care items and lots of food items to contribute. My daughter is taking them in to school today. One of the miscellaneous items suggested is cards for the soldiers to send to their family and loved ones. What a GREAT idea! So, last night, my daughters and I made 14 cards for Operation Care Package. I'll show you 7 today and 7 more tomorrow. The drive ends today. I wish we had time to make more, because it's such a great cause! My youngest daughter made 6 cards, I made 6 cards, and my oldest daughter made 2 cards. Take a look!

In this set of 7, I only made 2 of the cards! Aren't my girls very talented card makers? I think so! We used DCWV card bases (some great designs on these!), and lots of paper scraps, brads, ribbons, and stamps! My girls both have quite a stamp collection (thanks to a rubber stamp flea market that we go to twice a year), and it was hysterical seeing them "rediscover" some of the stamps that they haven't used for a while! I think this is great to send these in for Operation Care Package. I sincerely hope someone enjoys using these! Thanks for stopping by!

Bind It All Extravanganza!

I plan on making quite a few Bind It All journals for the craft fair. If I don't get a space, I'll give them away as Christmas gifts! I actually used up lots of paper scraps on these! I used Provo Craft Slab papers, lots of rhinestones, a couple of Primas, and a whole bunch of ribbon! The first two are 2"x4", and the next two are 4"x4".

My chipboard covers that I have to work with are 4"x4". Since I'm using 4"x6" index cards for the pages, I'm left with 2"x4" index card pieces. Since I have all of those leftover pieces, I decided to make the 2"x4" journals too. At first I thought that size would be too small, but it's not! It's really cute, and they would be perfect for a purse or a briefcase. I hope to make more journals today. Once again though, I'm not sure what to charge for something like this! Pricing is definitely going to be my biggest issue! It's going to be very difficult to price the journals, because journals can be purchased from the $1 spot in Target and in Michael's. I would like to think that those journals aren't as cute as these, and these are worth it, but you never know if shoppers will think that!!

Today is our 14th Anniversary!

Fourteen years ago today I married the love of my life! Happy 14th Anniversary Sweetheart! I'd marry you again in a heartbeat! I thought I would share something a little funny about the day that my husband proposed to me. When my husband asked me to marry him, my sophisticated response was, “You bet your ass I will.” I have no idea WHERE that response came from! I was so nervous and excited at the same time, and it just flew out of my mouth! What an odd way to answer the most important question of my life during the most romantic moment of my life! It's definitely the best decision I've ever made!!

Snowman Soup!

Have you all heard of Snowman Soup? It's another item I'm working on for the craft fair. It's a packet of hot chocolate, a small bag of mini marshmallows, a candy cane, plus a cute poem about the Snowman Soup. It's an idea that my friend Jana told me about, and it's been done on many Internet and blogging sites. Nichole Heady has a super cute version, but using tins and repackaging the hot chocolate wouldn't be cost effective for the craft fair in which I'm hoping to participate. So, this is my version for the craft fair.

This is the shopping bag from Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More (TBBM) cut on my Cricut at the largest size. The packet of hot chocolate has to go in on its side in the shopping bag, but the handles on the bag sure are cute!


This is the inch bag at the largest size. It is also cut on my Cricut using TBBM. In this one, the packet of hot chocolate can go in vertically.

Here they are together. I definitely like both versions, and I will continue making both versions for the craft fair. I made the "Snowman Soup" round tags in Word Art, the snowman is clip art, and I cut them out with my Coluzzle. I used my Cropadile to punch the holes in the tags and in the inch bag. I don't have the candy canes or the mini marshmallows yet, and my oldest daughter is finishing up an original poem for the gifts. The paper I used is from the DCWV Glitter Christmas Stack. So, what do you think? I think the little kids will love these for siblings, parents, and teachers. Well, at least I'm hoping they like them!

I'm weak! I cheated on my spending ban!

I have been on a self-imposed spending ban, and I was doing SO GOOD! I think I have gone two months without spending on crafting items, and yesterday, I BLEW IT! I'm sorry to say, but it was worth it! We had to stop at Lowe's to pick up some stuff for an experiment that my oldest daughter is working on. My husband and oldest daughter ran into Lowe's, and my youngest daughter and I decided to just "take a quick look" in Michael's which is conveniently located right next to Lowe's. Now, I realize that it might have been a better idea for me to stay out of Michael's completely, but when you haven't purchased anything in almost two months, how can you possibly be responsible for thinking clearly?

Look at what I got at Michael's! The Martha Stewart Halloween stuff was on clearance. I believe it was half off. I got a foam witch & stars stamp for $1 something. Both the bat punch and the Halloween fence wood stamp were $4.99 each. The wood fence stamp is 7" wide! Now, how could I resist, especially after seeing this card on a blog! Isn't that card amazing? And now, next year, I'll be able to create spooktacularly fun similar cards! I have to admit, the Martha Stewart punches are NICE! I love the two-lever design, and they're easy to squeeze! So, I'm thrilled with my clearance items. I have to admit, I would have never spent full price on these items! A clearance sale is fun to find! Thanks for stopping by!

Reindeer Cards

I made four more cards for the craft fair in which I'm hoping to participate. I really need to get moving IF I get a space at the fair!


I've had the cute Reindeer Names stamp for a while, and I really wanted to use it on a card. This is what I came up with! The patterned paper card front is from a Provo Craft slab. The reindeer is a QuicKutz die. I used some red Stickles on Rudolph's nose! I added some ribbon around the card front. I ticket punched all the layers including the card front. This one was super easy, and I want it to appeal to young kids since they are going to be the primary shoppers at the craft fair.


Here's the four cards together. I changed the reindeers up a little . . . some have brown faces and some have tan. I also used four different ribbons on each card. What do you think?

I won Blog Candy AGAIN!

I've never actually considered myself to be a unlucky person, but in the last couple of days, I'm definitely considering myself VERY LUCKY!! I won another FABULOUS blog candy! I'm definitely playing the lottery this weekend! This is too much!

My very good blogging friend Samm is sending me these fabulous items! I created 3 cards for her Holiday challenge, and I won with my sassy shopper card! I'm beyond excited! In fact, I need a thesaurus to find new words to describe how excited and thrilled I am! You should see what Samm has done with the very same holiday stickers! Stop by her blog to take a look around. Birthday Card and Altered Container

I mentioned on Wednesday that it was my NSSS's (not so secret sister from the Cricut message board) birthday. This is the card that I sent to her.


I Cuttlebug embossed and ticket punched the card front. The ribbon is American Crafts, and I added layered Prima Sprites with rhinestones. The metal bookplate is Making Memories. I added a small present from patterned paper that I detail cut, and then I popped it up from the card front. I added Stickles to various areas of the card front too as well as to the ticket punched corners.

I had lots of wonderful ladies on the Cricut message board make cards for Sharon and send them to me. I gathered them all up in this container that I altered, and I sent them off to Sharon as a big surprise for her birthday. She was very surprised, and she loved getting all of the cards! "Sharon" was cut using Opposites Attract on my Cricut. The "happy birthday" is a sticker, and there are more layered Prima Sprites with rhinestone centers. I forget who makes that paper, but isn't it fun?

I didn't do too much to the back of the container other than add lots of stickers. They coordinate with the patterned paper that I used on the front of the container.

Can you believe that this cute container once held a blow dryer? Gotta love that! I tried to find a metal lunchbox that would hold all the cards, but it wasn't working out. I had this container, and I used it instead. It was perfect!
