Fashion Diva

This is my sweet Emily when she was little! Isn't she fabulous!? I used the April kit from Scrapbook Kit Club. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love that kit! I also used a sketch that is posted on the Scrapbook Kit Club forum. This page is also for a challenge at Scrap-Friendzy to use a frame around a photo. I used a My Mind's Eye transparency frame. This page is also for another challenge at Memorable Seasons to do something to the edge of your layout. The example given was using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and the QuicKutz squeeze. That's exactly what I did, and I love the effect! I'll be using that technique again! Last, this page is for Challenge #1 at The Color Room. This page has lots of Dear Lizzy by American Crafts, and I did a lot of sewing on the page. I just LOVE the way it turned out! Oh yeah, the beautiful crocheted flower? Emily made that for me, and it's fabulous!! Hard to believe this little girl in the photograph is now 14 years old! ♥

I hope you're having a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Unique

This is a card that I created for a Unity Challenge on SCS. The challenge was to create a card that's shiny and glittery. I used my Le Chic Vintage stamp set and Jillibean papers. The diamond plate is metallic tape that I ran through my Cuttlebug. I added a couple of fun Making Memories buttons on silver cord. I added rhinestones and glitter Thickers, and I painted on some Shimmerz and Blingz. This card is very shiny and glittery!

I hope you're having a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

Monster - hi

I created this card for the card challenge #16 on the Paper Popsicles blog. Amy created a sketch to inspire us. I also used a digital image from the Paper Popsicles store. This digital image is called "little monsters", and this is just one of the two monsters that you get with the digital image. Isn't he cute? I used new papers that I got in my Sassafras warehouse box! I used colored pencils and gamsol on the monster and added some googly eyes for fun! The "hi" metal pieces and the button are both Making Memories. The blue card base has been Cuttlebug embossed with swiss dots. I also added machine stitching. My bobbin ran out on the bottom of the card, and then the stiching got messed up, but you're not supposed to notice that! This card is very distressed and roughed up, so the bad sewing mishap kinda works here! This is a card I would give my nephew! Seems totally boy and crazy to me!!

Tomorrow, I will be posting some awesome cards that I created with a NEW set from The Cutting Cafe'. It's a secret . . . but I just might be giving the set away!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I will be enjoying the three-day Labor Day weekend for sure! Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapping Recipe Challenge #50 & ScrapCity Peachy Cheap Reveal

This is a multi-purpose layout today! It is my LAST Sketches! {by Tamara} layout, and it showcases my wonderful Peachy Cheap goodies that were sent for the Creative Team at ScrapCity!

First off, I want to thank Tamara for having me on her team! The Sketches! {by Tamara} site was my very first design team! I started off on her card team, and then I became a recipe challenge team member! I've loved every single minute of it! Thanks Tamara! Next, I want to thank the most awesome Brooke over at Peachy Cheap! She is sponsoring ScrapCity this month, and she sent the Creative Team at ScrapCity the most fantastic goodies to work with! I've used a lot of it, and I still have so much left! Thank you Brooke!

This layout is for Scrapping Recipe Challenge #50 where we were to use the following on our cards or layouts:
  • hardware
  • notebook paper
  • dry embossing

The hardware on my layout is the American Crafts photo anchors that Brooke from Peachy Cheap sent to the ScrapCity Creative Team. The notebook paper is from a Making Memories journaling notebook, and the dry embossing is a Cuttlebug embossed sheet of Prima paper. I used other Peachy Cheap products that I've purchased on this layout (I told you, I'm a very good customer!) The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye, the flower is by Petaloo, and the journaling card at the bottom is by Fancy Pants, and I got all of those items from Peachy Cheap! The layout also features Daisy D's rub ons and American Crafts ribbon which were provided to the ScrapCity Creative Team! You can click on the layout to see it larger.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed the long weekend very much. Happy Tuesday, and thanks for stopping by!

More ScrapCity March Reveals

I have two more projects to show you today. These were both created using products from Crafter's Alley. Charlie is our ScrapCity sponsor for the month of March. One of the things that she sent to our Creative Team member is Core'dinations cardstock, and we all had so much fun creating with this cardstock!

Here's another card that I created featuring the cardstock! This cardstock is wonderful in the Cuttlebug. I embossed the card front, and then lightly sanded the raised image. Such a pretty effect! The scalloped circular sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe'. This image comes from the All Occasion Circle Scallop set. LOVE IT!! I cut the sentiment and the mat both with my Coluzzle. I added a gorgeous Prima (also from Charlie at Crafter's Alley!) with a Making Memories button center. Ribbon was added to the bottom of the card front along with a rhinestone trio. I love the way this card turned out!

I also created this fun layout! The paper, "summer" card, and large die cut flower are all by My Mind's Eye. I got all of this MME from a great value kit at Peachy Cheap! I am loving Peachy Cheap! Awesome deals of the day! I used the Core'dinations cardstock to make my title and my photo frame. The photo frame is strips of paper, and the title is QuicKutz. I embossed all of it in my Cuttlebug and lightly sanded it. I added a trio of bright Primas next to the "summer" card. The layout also has Making Memories brads and a trio of rhinestones. Love it!

Happy Friday everyone! It's already 50 outside, so I will be taking a long walk with Princess. We have some rain coming, but at this time of year, that's to be expected. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead before you go to bed on Saturday night! Have a great weekend everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

ScrapCity March Reveals!

The Paper Creative Team at ScrapCity is revealing their March creations today! We have an amazing sponsor this month! Charlie, at the Crafter's Alley, sent us wonderful Core'dinations cardstock, a selection of Primas, and a sanding block. This was such FUN stuff to play with! Thank you so much Charlie!

I created five projects . . . two layouts and three cards. Here is one of my cards. The Core'dinations paper is wonderful in the Cuttlebug with the large embossing folders! I embossed the whole card front, and then I lightly sanded the embossed image. I then printed two of the "A - Z Is For" printable stamps from The Cutting Cafe'. I love these printable stamps! I cut them out with my Nestabilites, and then I sanded the embossed edge of the scallop circle. CUTE! I added a sheer ribbon, tied a bow, and then I sewed on a Prima with a gorgeous Making Memories button center. I really love the way this card turned out!

Well, I'm off to check out vacuums today! Everyone is telling me to get a Dyson, but in Consumer Reports, there are at least ten other vacuums that got a better overall rating. I need to check some out today. If you have a vacuum that you really like, let me know!! I hope you have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Sketch Card

Some of the Creative Team members actually created sketches for our Sketch Fest at ScrapCity. This is Nessa's card sketch.

This is my card based on her sketch. I used some SEI paper that the Creative Team received from our sponsor, Beatriz. The "thanks" is a $1 acrylic stamp from Michael's. I embossed both panels with the swiss dots embossing folder in my Cuttlebug. The flowers are Petaloo, and I got those as a RAK from the wonderful Wendy! Just an easy, but very cute card. I love these colors. You can click on the card to see it larger.

My girls came home yesterday, and they told me that the name of their Junior High School is changing. The superintendent of our schools is retiring, and to honor him, they are renaming the school. I'm shocked at how angry this news made me. Renaming the school loses the consistency with the three schools (Elementary, Intermediate, and Junior High). They are all named after the town we live in. The school is now referred to as MJHS. The superintendent's last name begins with a B. I think it's same to assume that it will be referred to as BJHS. Uhm, that doesn't sound right, does it? However, what REALLY made me angry is the fact that the economy is in the toilet right now. Yet, the school district is going to find enough money to change signs, banners, get new letterhead, etc. Can you imagine what needs to change because the school's name is changing, and how much it's all going to cost? It's irresponsible to spend any money to make this change. I am so angry, but apparently the school board has already made the decision. Well, I won't be hesitating to let anyone and everyone know that I think this is wrong. I don't have anything personal against this man, and it says a lot about him that they want to honor him in a big way, but seriously. This is ridiculous!

I hope you have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

BBTB - Dreams Come True - Dress Challenge

This week's challenge over at Bitten By The Bug was to use the Belle's dress from the Dreams Come True cartridge. Thanks again to DeeDee for sending me the cut. Be sure to check out the amazing ways that all of the designers used the dress! You will be amazed at all of the creations!

I asked DeeDee to send me the dress in red, because it is my favorite color! I added red Stickles to the top layers of the dress. I added stardust pen to the edges of the black shadow. The card front is Cuttlebug embossed. The Bill Blass quote, "When in doubt wear red." was printed on my computer. I added a heart rhinestone and red sheer ribbon to finish the card off. You can click on the card to see it larger.

I took an unscheduled blogging break, and it was great NOT blogging for a while! However, I missed you all, and I hope to catch up with all of you soon. I hope you had a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

BBTB - Christmas Cheer - House Challenge

Over at Bitten By The Bug, we were challenged to use the house cut on the Christmas Cheer cartridge. It seems to be a gingerbread house, but I designed it as a haunted house instead! Be sure to see what the other designers created! You will be amazed at how creative everyone was using this cut!

I cut the house using some fantastic Rusty Pickle patterned paper. I Cuttlebug embossed the roof and added some black Stickles. The spider web in the corner is a Making Memories foam stamp that I stamped in white paint. The spider is also a MM foam stamp that I detail cut. The "Happy Haunting!" stamp is from a Stampin' Up set. I distressed the edges of all the cardstock, and I used chalk ink on it.

I hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday! Thanks for stopping by!

Card Sketch #59 - The LAST One!

It's card sketch day at Sketches! {by Tamara}, and this is my card for Card Sketch #59. Be sure to check out what all of the other card designers created, because they're fantastic! Also, if you create a card using Tamara's sketch, be sure to link it back to her site. You could be her next featured guest designer! Plus, she also posts the linked back creations! Sadly, this is my last card for Tamara! I've really enjoyed being a part of the card team! Happily, I will be staying with the site, and I will be creating layouts for her Recipe Challenges! I'm thrilled!

I received the patterned paper on this card as a RAK, and I totally let it inspire me to create this card. I wanted to use the foam thickers. I got them from Chris as a RAK/prize for a 4 Scrappy Sisters challenge that I won. The four black squares are Cuttlebug swiss dot embossed. I added two stacked Prima Sprites, and used a black Making Memories brad in the center. Last, I added some dotted ribbon from Michael's. I chalked ink distressed the card front. I really love this color combination!

Well, it's my husband's birthday on Saturday, and I really don't have it together for that, so I need to run out and see if I can pick up a couple of presents. The girls and I are also having the hardest time with this EARLY school schedule! We're all still so tired when we get up! I also need to do a lot of cleaning around the house and grocery shop. So, off I go! Have a GREAT day, and thanks for stopping by!

BBTB - Indie Art - Strawberry Challenge

Our challenge this week at Bitten By The Bug was so use the strawberry on the Indie Art cartridge. Once again, I don't have that cartridge, and once again, DeeDee came to my rescue, and she sent me the cut. Thanks DeeDee! Be sure to check out what the other designers created! They're all fantastic!

I really struggled with this challenge, because I couldn't think of a project to use a strawberry on! I thought of "berry sweet" and "thank you berry much", but that just didn't work for me. In the end, I pulled out my So Very Stampin' Up set, and created a "sweet" card. I used my swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing folder on the black card front. I created a threading water punch red border for the bottom of my card front. The "Announcing" journaling card is by 7 Gypsies. I tied it on with beautiful red sheer ribbon. The "you are" alphabet stickers are by Making Memories. I added a chalk inked red flower, a tag that I cut with my QuicKutz stamped with the word "sweet", and I sewed on a button. I then mounted the inked strawberry and added 3 red rhinestones as a finishing touch. I love the way this card turned out, but I still think the strawberry looks like an afterthought. This color combination is so appealing to me!

We have a busy Monday. The girls have marching band camp, marching band uniform fittings, and then they both have an eye doctor appointment. We'll be running around quite a bit. I hope you had a great weekend! Have a good Monday, and thanks for stopping by!

Forever Friends

This is a card I created for a design team entry. I'm sad to say, I did not make the design team.

The card base is white, the card front is black Cuttlebug embossed, and the pink layer was cut on my Cricut. The "forever friends" stamp is an Autumn Leaves circular sentiment. I cut both the circle and the circle mat with my Coluzzle. I added a couple of Primas with a Making Memories brad. The pink clip is Making Memories, and the last touch was white sheer ribbon. I really love this card!

I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday! Thanks for stopping by!

BBTB - George - Star Challenge

The challenge this week at the Bitten By The Bug site is to use the star cut that is available on the George cartridge. It's such a simple cut, but it has so many possibilities. You will be amazed at what the design team created, so be sure to check it out! Also, the very talented Regina is looking to add a couple more design team members to the team. Be sure to check that out too! It's so much FUN! Why not give it a try? Here's my card for this week's challenge.

I decided to use the stars on a graduation card for my nephew. I cut two stars and two shadows. I ran the stars through my Cuttlebug using the swiss dots embossing folder. The "you did it!" is also from a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The "Happy Graduation!" and "Reach For The Stars" are both stickers that I had in my stash. The photo corners are Heidi Swapp. My nephews high school colors are burgundy and gold, so I decided to add some burgundy to the card. The dotted ribbon is from Michael's.

I have lots to do today. I have a craft class at the library tomorrow, and I'm not completely prepared for it yet. I need to finish some cutting and get a lot of glue sticks! I'm so behind on blog hopping again, and I'm so sorry about that! I hope to catch up with everyone soon! Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!!

BBTB - Accents Essentials - Circle Challenge

This week our Bitten By The Bug challenge was to use one of the circle cuts from the Accents Essentials cartridge. I don't have that cartridge, so DeeDee sent me the cuts. I love the colors she sent to me, and I had no problem letting them inspire me to make this card!

The stamps are from Stampin' Up. I just love these stamps! I used the circles as frames. I popped up all three of the stamped images. The card front is Cuttlebug embossed, and I sanded the paper to let the white core show. The gorgeous ribbon is from Maya Road, and I received it as a RAK from Jen over at ScrapCity. The flower is a Prima. I just love the colors of this card!

It's going to be a busy week, and I can't wait until the 4th of July. I love celebrating the 4th of July with my family! I hope you all have a great week, and thanks for stopping by!

White On White Challenge Card

Deborah at Stampin' On The Mountain is having a white on white card challenge for some blog candy. Since it was such an unusual challenge, I decided to give it a try and create a white on white card.

This is my very white card. I actually really like the way it turned out. Cuttlebug embossing really adds dimension to the paper. I added white sheer ribbon, some clear dew drops, a white Prima, and a white button that is sewed on with white ribbon.

Today is Father's Day, and we had a very nice day. We spoiled my husband, and I also saw my dad today. My brother had us over for a barbeque, and we also spent quality time at home. It was a great day.

I received some horrible, tragic news from a blogging friend yesterday. It literally made me gasp, then made me tear up, and it's been on my mind a lot since I read her message. I've been praying for her and her family to get through this unimaginable time in their lives. I hope all of the prayers that she is receiving give her and her family some peace at this time. I came online to check email, and post this card, and I just felt strange about blogging when something so tragic has happened to someone that has become such a good online friend. I'm honestly heartbroken for her, and I wish that there was something that I could do to ease her pain. I will continue to pray for her.

Thanks for stopping by.

Card Sketch #46

It's Thursday, so it's card sketch day at Sketches! {by Tamara}. This is my card for Card Sketch #46. As always, I love the sketch! Be sure to check out the cards by the other design team members. If you work with the sketch, link it back to Tamara's site, and YOU could be her next guest designer!

I got this Delight In Life Stampin' Up set from my wonderful blogging friend Jana! I used it a few times, and then it was lovingly cast aside. Well, my SBS2 sister Michelle inspired me to get this set back out and create more cards with it. Michelle recently posted a couple of cards using this set, and she stamped the flowers on patterned paper. Now, why didn't I think of that? The card front is ticket punched and Cuttlebug embossed with the swiss dots embossing folder. I added some twill around the card front (thanks again to Jana for the twill!!), some brads were added, and a flower rhinestone was used on the flower stack. The patterned papers are My Mind's Eye.

Today is the last full day of school for my girls. My youngest has a field day for most of the day, and then I will be going to her awards' assembly at 1 p.m. It will be interesting to see if she is the recipient of any awards. It's going to be a beautiful day here today. I could have this 70 degree weather with a nice breeze all year round! Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by!

Hi Card

I won an amazing kit from ScrapCity for doing all nine of their April challenges. I couldn't wait to use some of the goodies!

I created this card using ki Memories shimmer paper. I just love this paper, because it's so funky and colorful! I Cuttlebug embossed and ticket punched a small piece of blue paper, matted it with a darker blue, and then adhered some glitter Doodlebug chipboard letters. I added ribbon around the card front and adhered three brads. Quick and easy!

I am STILL having Internet / Blogger problems. Leaving comments used to be so pleasant, but now, it's turned into a most time-consuming and frustrating task. It's so aggravating! I'm doing the best that I can with commenting, and I hope we figure out what's going on with the Internet speed in our house. I hope you have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by!

Bunny Easter Card - Sketch Challenge

I finally got a chance to create a card for Nicola's Sketch #5 Challenge. If you haven't done one of her sketches, you should give it a try!

I struggled with this card at first, because the sketch seems to be for a square card, but I wanted to make sure I could fit it in an envelope, so I created it in my usual 4.25" x 5.5" size. The harlequin patterned paper is from a DCWV glitter mat stack. The blue layer is featuring another NEW Cuttlebug large embossing folder. This one is harlequin. I stamped a bunny stamp that I've had for a long time, and I used colored pencils and gamsol on it. I actually shaded the bunny a little, and I'm pretty happy with the way the shading turned out! I added one small Prima with a brad.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bella Rocks & More HAPPY Mail!

I wanted to use another Bella image that I received, AND I wanted to use another NEW Cuttlebug large embossing folder. I'm happy to say that I was able to do both!

My SBS2 Secret Sister sent me Bella stamped images, and this one is just the coolest! Look at Bella with her guitar. She really ROCKS! I'm loving this new embossing folder. It's called allegro. Both of my girls are very musical, so this folder was a MUST for me. The ribbon is fantastic, and I think I got it at Hobby Lobby. The "you rock" is Karen Foster snap stamps. I colored the image with pencils and used gamsol. I'm very happy with the way this card turned out!

I'm happy to say that I finally know WHO sent me the wonderful Bella images! I received my SBS2 "reveal" package yesterday. My secret sister is Inking Aloud's, Lori T. Lori is so talented, and it's always so much fun to visit her blog, because all of her creations are such eye candy! We're also both on Tamara's Sketches! card design team. Very cool! I had NO CLUE that Lori was my secret sister, and she was an awesome secret sister. This is the card that I received with my reveal package. I love the red and turquoise. It's such a pretty card!

Lori also sent me an altered notepad and pen. Isn't this fantastic? I love it! Such a pretty color, and the stamping is perfect!

Look at these monogram sticky notes! So cool, all different colors, and I love the dots! Such happy sticky notes! They're sitting here right on my desk!

She also sent me lots of packages of BLING! Love it all, and I will use it all, because I just love bling! Such pretty rhinestones! Plus, look at the jumbo altered paper clip! Gorgeous! The red and brown is so striking!

The altered paper clip is worth a second look. It's so pretty! I love it! I love it ALL! Thank you so much Lori! You were just an awesome secret sister! I am one of the luckiest bloggers that I know! I have "met" such amazing women, and you're all so wonderful, generous, and kind! Thank you!

Well, if you saw my 10 p.m. post and photo from last night (below), you will know that I'm a little bit crabby today, because we got more snow! It's heavy and wet, and I need to go outside to finish shoveling it. I did a little bit of it already, and I'm tired! Ugh! Yuck! I guess all of this will just make me appreciate spring so much more when it finally arrives! Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Number Collage Birthday Card

Here's another new Cuttlebug large embossing folder. This is the number collage. This card is a little funky, because I used two numbers that are next to each other on the embossing folder, and I emphasized them to represent my daughter's age.

I embossed turquoise and then a small red piece, and I overlapped them. I added red Stickles to the two numbers that I was emphasizing. I ticket punched the card front, added Stickles to the four corners, and added a ribbon around the card front. The "happy birthday" is from a Stampin' Up set, I added a small red marker border around it, and I mounted it on top of a large Prima Sprite. I wasn't too sure about this card when I finished with it, but the longer I looked at it, the more I liked it. What do you think?

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes for Emily yesterday! She enjoyed reading them all! We had a wonderful day yesterday full with shopping, lots of laughing, and a whole bunch of celebrating. This photo of Jessica and Emily was taken when we went out for Emily's birthday dinner at a local pizza parlor. Dinner was delicious!

Everything in this house is about Princess, or so she seems to think, so she had to pose for a photo with the birthday girl! She's such a silly dog, but we all love her!

Here Emily is showing off her birthday brownies after blowing out the candles. She loves brownies with frosting on them, so that's what Jessica and I made for her. Jessica frosted them! I added the "fancy" writing on the brownies. They were pretty delicious!

What a GREAT day yesterday for all of us! Emily had a fantastic 12th birthday! I'm way behind on blog hopping, but I'll be catching up with all of you soon! Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
