I don't like back-to-school time!

I am NOT one of those moms that does the happy dance on the first day of school. I love having my girls at home, and I'm always sad on the first day when the bus comes to take them away from me. It's after 7 a.m. now, and Emily has already gone. It's her first day of junior high. Yes, she's a 6th grader. This year brings a locker with a combination lock, homeroom, changing classes for every subject, and hopefully, lots of new friends and fun experiences! Jessica has about 25 more minutes before she leaves for her first day of 5th grade. The intermediate school has 4th and 5th graders, so this year, she rules the school!

I always make first day of school cards for the girls. I like to put a smile on their face in the morning when they see their cards on the table. I was going to make cards with the Cricut backpack cut from Doodlecharms, but I didn't have enough time! So, I used these cute folio closure cards that I got from Target. I couldn't resist the string closure! I added Heidi Swapp chipboard letters and one of my NEW Primas that I just got from QVC! The card says "smile", and on the inside it says, "You're going to have a great school year!" I can predict that, because they always DO have a great school year! I love the blue and red on this one. Blue is Emily's favorite color! She took her card to school to put in her locker caddy on her locker door!

Jessica loves lime green lately! I made her this card with the green and coral. I love it! Once again, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters and a NEW Prima. Isn't the folio string closure so cute? Jessica wants me to put magnets on the back of her card so that she can put in on her locker door too! Hopefully when she looks at it, she'll think of me and she will in fact, smile!

Thanks for stopping by! I don't like the first day of school! *Sigh!*

How special to make cards for the first day of school! It's great that the girls want to display them, too!
